A Night in Rome by Sue Yang

I had so much fun photographing J and T as they enjoyed a nighttime caper in the heart of historical Rome. We began the shoot in the stylish Hotel dei Barbieri and continued through the streets to the Pantheon, encountering shop owners, restauranteurs, florists, jewelry vendors, and other interesting characters.

To say it was romantic was an understatement. Everything from their natural chemistry, the light to the scenery conspired to make this the moody, sultry and editorial shoot a delight for me to capture. Daria Zhiliakova did a phenomenal job as a hair and makeup artist and our gorgeous dresses were from Kateryna Giriavenko of www.lovedress.it

Adventures in Austria by Sue Yang

A+K met in college at a campus event right before she was due to study abroad. “I’ll probably never see you again,” she had laughed. Luckily, that meeting had blossomed into something more. K came to visit A in Vienna the same week I was photographing at the Musikverein Wien. We had our session on a beautiful afternoon at the Schloss Belvedere right in the heart of the city.

The way they look at each other is so beautiful. Great photos are never about model-good-looks, though they possess this in abundance. These photos are particularly stunning because their connection is so strong!

A Love-Letter to Manhattan, NYC and a Surprise Proposal by Sue Yang

I began my own journey as a NYC photographer on the Upper West Side, so returning to NYC to capture this couples’ session was a project I was eager to take on! There is something so special about living in New York City and I always relive so many feelings when I photograph there.

J+G met and began dating in Manhattan. During the pandemic, as jobs became remote, they became eager to leave the city for a an adventure- anywhere with internet would do, and the world was calling. As they packed their bags, they decided on one last big project- to memorialize their love for the city and each other with a photo session.

They took me on a journey through their relationship from their cozy UWS apartment, around the corner to Magnolia Bakery, to SOHO where they spent many-a-night closing down their favorite Karaoke place, to Smash Studios NYC, where G’s band recorded their first album, and finally back to Central Park, where they took many strolls, jogs around the circle, and where he proposed, right above Bethesda Fountain.

It was a cold day, but our hearts were warm. I wish them much fun and adventure in their first stop, Costa Rica, and many subsequent stops in their lives together.

It is both exciting and daunting to begin a project such as a blog, but I thought this would be a perfect first post. I hope you enjoy my writings and photos!
